Perceived temperature based on wind and air temperature
Calculate how cold it really feels with our Wind Chill Calculator. Perfect for hikers, outdoor workers, athletes, and anyone exposed to cold weather.
Wind chill represents the perceived decrease in air temperature felt by the body due to wind. As wind speed increases, it draws heat from the body more rapidly, making the air feel colder than the actual temperature. Our Wind Chill Calculator helps you determine that "feels-like" temperature so you can dress appropriately, stay safe, and plan your outdoor activities with confidence.
Wind chill is a measure of how cold it feels on your skin when the wind is factored in with the actual air temperature. It's calculated using a formula developed by meteorological organizations to estimate the rate of heat loss on exposed skin.
Wind Chill Formula (U.S. Standard):
WC = 35.74 + 0.6215T - 35.75(V0.16) + 0.4275T(V0.16)
Enter the actual air temperature in degrees Fahrenheit or Celsius. This is the baseline reading from a weather station or thermometer.
Enter the wind speed in miles per hour (mph) or kilometers per hour (km/h). This is the moving air around the body that causes heat loss.
As soon as you enter your temperature and wind speed, the calculator instantly shows:
Calculates instantly using the official wind chill formula recognized by NOAA and meteorological bodies.
Simple and intuitive—just enter two values and get your results.
Choose between °F/°C and mph/km/h for global usability.
Use it in the field on smartphones and tablets—ideal for hikers and workers on the go.
The wind chill formula is only valid for temperatures below 50°F (10°C) and wind speeds above 3 mph (4.8 km/h). It is not applicable indoors or in calm wind conditions. Also, remember that wind chill only affects exposed skin—not objects like car engines or pipes.
Don't get caught off guard by freezing winds. Use our Wind Chill Calculator to understand how cold it really feels and take the right steps to stay warm, safe, and prepared. Whether you're an adventurer, outdoor worker, or just heading out for errands—this tool has your back.
